A short working version of information page about the
study program.
This program is concentrted on the automatic control theory and used principes. The standard part of any automatization is the continuous model theory. This is because high quality control can save energy and material sources. The necessary support for this is the measurement (senzoring). The same importance is the instrumentation part and the drives. The part of digital communication is introduced.
A big part of this specialization is focused on the artificial intelligence, from rule based systems, through neural networks, to image recognition and machine perception. Necessary support for this is represented by databases and programming courses.
Study programme comprises many laboratories and student pass three semestral projects before the diploma thesis to train a problem solving approach.
Study program has two specialization, one more focused on optics and instrumentation, as this could be part of an autonomous systems.
Humanity subjects are required in any study programme to be accredited.
For the most of students the History of Discovery of the Universe is suitable. Optics is one of our specialization and its history is interesting, including many principes used.
The Engineering Psychology is important for students, who like to design a robots, automata or program, which should cooperate with a man. The HMI (human-machine interface) is important part of many systems and it could influence its productivity.

For more info about any of our subjects, you should write to their lecturers; to identify them, or for more info about our specialization, write me (hlavac@fs.cvut.cz).
Czech Technical University is participating in the Eduroam project (25 access points at Dejvice (fully covered), 8 at Charles square). All our students can use WiFi on all places, where Eduroam is available (worldwide). On our dormitories, wired connection is possible too. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has about ten computer classrooms, which can be used by students for free access (they are used for classes in about 30%), but printing is not for free. More info about network on FME.
National Technical Library is in the university campus, next to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Dejvice.
You can visit Prague virtually on the 360globe.net or by using Google Streetview.
